more kanzashi satin flowers

the response to these folded satin flowers has been great! i am totally sold out of them!  thanks for all the nice words.  it makes me happy to know that people like the things i make. [insert smile here!].

anyway,  i thought i'd show [off] a few more that i have done since then:

polka dot love

i call these 'spiky' (the ones above are 'loopy')...real technical terms here.   ;)

a monochromatic 'loopy' one worn as a brooch (by the fabulous jane k.)...she also clipped this to the handle of a purse for instant accessorization (is that a word?).  ha!

this one livens up gina's black cardigan

do you have a favorite?
are you on "team loopy" or "team spiky"?
suggestions for other color-schemes?

Kanzashi = Sleek Satin Flowers

I am loving these!  They are based on an ancient Japanese fabric folding craft called Kanzashi.  The flowers were traditionally worn in the hair and were believed to ward off bad spirits.

Here's my twist on Kanzashi.

These are all made from satin, except the pink one.  The light pink is satin, but the darker pink in another silky type of material (sorry, i found it on the remnant pile, so don't know it's exact content).

The backs I put on are french clips, but these could be applied to a brooch pin, a headband, etc. to adorn your lapel, spice up your purse, add flair to your scarf...

Could you find a use for one of these?  Comment and tell me what you'd use it for!

Satin "Starburst" Clips

My 4-year-old daughter has a birthday party to attend for a friend tomorrow so I thought I'd whip up a pair of singed satin flower clips (pink, of course).

One of the finished clips - I hope she loves them!

When I finished the flower clips, I thought I'd see what would happen if I cut strips around the center of the circle then singe...and so was born the Starburst Clip!

I'd *love* to know what you think of the Starburst Clip!

Here are a few more shots:

This last one is perfect for Valentines' Day that's coming up soon!
