Last year, I sewed up some flannel jammie pants for my kids and the cousins on the hubby's side of the family. It was a bit of an after-thought I am a horrible procrastinator, so I was rushing at the last minute to get them all done. I think I made them all a bit long (eek.)

I am planning to do the same this year, but went with cotton instead of flannel. When I pre-washed the flannel, it pilled up quite a bit and didn't look that great (it was cheap-y flannel). Hopefully I'll get better results with the cotton...stay tuned, I'll let you know. And maybe a tutorial?
A tip: if you're making these for younger kids, buy some cord locks for the drawstrings, if they cannot tie the strings themselves.

I think I'll do elastic with the cotton pants. Thoughts or tips on that?
Had to share a funny holiday pic (it's almost that time of year, right?). This is my husband and my father-in-law, Randall. The elf and Santa shirts are from Target last year. This was not planned. We arrived at their house and this is what Randall was wearing! Like father, like son?!

one year I did flannel pj for the nieces and nephews. The hardest part was knowing there waist size...i did draw string on some and elastic on the others...not sure which is better? But you are never too early to get started. and those are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the pjs! I think I might want to do some family ones for us as well. Thanks for the idea!

Love it! I thought I was the only mom who made Christmas jammies for my kiddos (and my husband and myself!) LOVE the drawstring idea- I usually do elastic and it's fairly easy, but I like the pull idea I will have to check it out this year. I bought my flannel already, it's REALLY cold up here so I always use flannel but cotton has cuter prints sometimes. Here's a link to a blog post I did about last years jammies. I went with red snowflake print this year http://4princes2princesses.blogspot.com/2011/08/christmas-jammies.html
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute gift idea! I like the drawstring look better than elastic, personally. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those jammies - great idea!!!!! And I like them long, big, soft, and comfy!
